If you can't change the circumstances, change your perspective.
In September 2014 a massive fire destroyed the nearly completed new Carbon Neutral Laboratory of Sustainable Chemistry at the University of Nottingham.
During a visit to the completely fire devastated original build and talking to the contractors on site, it became apparent of the profound sense of loss they were experiencing.
This new work developed from the emotional involvement of not being able to change the circumstances, references the original site plan, creating an abstracted though recognisable site footprint. When illuminated by the sun, the image generates and projects a shadow commemorating the memory of the first build. Using transparent film layered up between glass sheets and framed in a sustainable wooden stand the installation measures 182 cm x 122 cm.
